2008 Tablas Creek Cotes de Tablas Blanc
This wine got 91-93 points from the Wine Advocate. Here is their review: "The unbottled 2008 whites include the 2008 Cotes de Tablas Blanc (a blend of 42% Viognier, 26% Roussanne, and 20% Marsanne, and the balance Grenache). It exhibits attractive honeyed grapefruit, lemon blossom, and exotic tropical fruit notes, superb freshness, and good underlying acidity, ripeness, and length. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years."
2007 Easton Zinfandel Amador County
This is always an exceptional wine for a great price. Here are the winery's notes on this wine: "This is the eleventh release of our popularly-priced Amador County Zinfandel. It is made from grapes that grow on our beautiful, rolling mountain sites that have the classic, vermilion-colored, Amador decomposed granite soil. The 2007 has full black cherry and blackberry fruit aromas with a beautiful balance and a big, sumptuous, and juicy mouth feel. It also presents complex spicy aromas,with a nice creamy texture derived from the 10 months time it receives in French oak barrels. This wine has become our popular, but serious cru Beaujolais-styled Zinfandel that has found its way on to many great restaurant lists across North America where it is often listed "by the glass". It is consistently rated one of the top Zinfandels in its class and one of the best value Zins available. Although drinkable now, it gains complexity with bottle age. This wine's release has become highly anticipated by many of our customers each year. We think this 2007 bottling is our best effort yet."
2007 Clos de Caillou Cotes du Rhone Vieilles Vignes Cuvee Unique
This wine is always a favorite at Bend Wine Cellar. The 2007 is probably the best ever vintage of this wine. Here are the importer's note: "A bouquet of purple flowers and candied licorice mixes with notes of kirsch and baking spices on the expressive nose, a delightful signature of this outstanding vintage. Sexy and supple suggestions of dark chocolate and black/red fruits flood the palate; there’s a rich, textured quality to the wine that fills the mouth with a sensation of silk—reminiscent of the estate’s top “Reserve” cru. Structured but not too muscled; layered and lively on the tongue. A blend of 80% Grenache, 13% Syrah and 7% Mourvèdre, pulled from Caillou's rustic walled vineyards—if you take a look at the appellation map, there's no doubt that this luscious Côtes du Rhône is really a Châteauneuf-du-Pape."
